Testing of Onboard Software following DoD standards

Dr. V Kala earned her Ph.D in the year 1983 from the Indian Institute of Technology, Chennai. Dr. Kala is a recipient of the National Technology Day Team award.
Dr. Kala joined DRDO in the year 1984, and has been serving DRDO for the past 24 years as a software scientist. Currently she heads the Software Engineering Division (LCA) of Aeronautical Development Establishment. This division is engaged in the development of Flight Control System software development for LCA. She has established software engineering practices for Safety Critical System in her division. She is chiefly responsible for seeing through all the difficult phases of this software development, especially after the US sanctions. So far more than 70 releases of this Safety Critical Digital Fly-by-Wire software have been released by her team after testing as per DoD standards. These different versions of the software have flown in 7 aircrafts of LCA with different configuration. Their efforts have resulted in more than 1000 flawless flights of LCA.
Her interests also lie in the development of algorithms and requirement generation for fly-by-wire systems.
