In this interactive tutorial, Ravi Shanker and Darshan Desai take you through a single iteration or sprint in the agile development lifecycle – right from capturing requirements to final retrospective, focusing on the stakeholders in the team and their interaction in the different phases. You will see in action how to capture and prioritize requirements, break them down into stories, optimize engineering processes for team collaboration, test effectively in an agile world, and get continuous feedback throughout the cycle.  From their experiences in the Visual Studio team at Microsoft, Darshan and Ravi share some common pitfalls as you head down the Agile path and how to successfully overcome them. Ravi Shanker, Principal Program Manager, Visual Studio, Microsoft

Ravi Shanker has over 17 years experience in the software industry, more than 13 years of which is at Microsoft Corporation. He has held multiple roles such as developer, support engineer, escalation engineer and finally program manager in his career. As a Principal Program Manager in the Visual Studio Test and Lab management team for the past 4+ years, he was involved in shipping of the Microsoft Test Professional 2010 product and is currently working on testing and feedback solutions that target software applications. He is passionate about delivering products that solve real customer problems and has a patent filed in capturing rich feedback on working software.

Darshan Desai, Senior Program Manager, Microsoft

Darshan Desai is a Senior Program Manager at Microsoft India Development Center, Hyderabad. Joining Microsoft in 2005, he spent his first two years as a Software Design Engineer in Testing on the Windows Live team. Darshan now works on the Visual Studio® product team, where he designs tools that improve the collaboration and efficiency of testers and developers. He has spoken at renowned testing and development conferences across the globe such as STAREAST, Tech-Ed USA & China, and EuroSTAR. Darshan has also filed for a patent in the testing and development practices space. He holds a Bachelor of Engineering degree in Computer Science from R V College of Engineering, Bangalore, India.
