Keynote Address
In the early years of MindTree, Krishnakumar moved to the US to launch the North American Operations of MindTree and helped MindTree acquired a number of marquee corporate customers like Franklin Templeton, Sun Microsystems, etc. He subsequently drove MindTree's expansion into Europe, Asia Pacific and the Middle East. Today, as a result of his leadership, MindTree has added several Fortune 500 companies to its client base and has grown to become a $100 million business since its inception in August 1999. Prior to co-founding MindTree, Krishnakumar was Chief Executive of the Electronic Commerce & Financial Solutions Division at Wipro. He held several other key positions in the same organization during his 17-year from 1982 until 1999. During the build-out of the company's software business, Krishnakumar conceptualized and implemented the e-commerce division of Wipro, developing a team of 250 people and generating $30 million in revenues annually within a year. Krishnakumar also helped architect Wipro's entry into leading-edge financial institutions such as American Express and Goldman Sachs. While serving as Group Vice President of human resources, Krishnakumar increased the number of employees in Wipro's software services business from 800 to 4,000 people in a short time. Krishnakumar has been elected to the Executive Council of NASSCOM - an apex industry body representing over 1200 IT services companies and works towards strengthening India's position in IT through key strategic global initiatives. At NASSCOM, he also chairs the 'Emerging Companies' Forum helping the Indian industry build a globally competitive ecosystem comprising of both large and emerging companies. Krishnakumar is also an active member of professional industry organizations such as the Manufacturer's Association for Information Technology and the Confederation of Indian Industry. He is also a regular Speaker / Faculty at reputed conferences and Management Schools worldwide. Kumar earned a bachelor's degree in mechanical engineering from the College of Engineering, Madras, India, and a Master of Business Administration degree in marketing and systems from the Xavier Institute, Jamshedpur, India. |
