Testing Internetworking devices and Network Management Applications
Venkat Ramakrishnan — Test Architect — IBM

Venkat Ramakrishnan is a Test Architect with IBM. Venkat did his B.E. in Computer Science Engineering at Sri Venkateswara College of Engineering affiliated to Chennai University, and graduated in 1992. Venkat has 13 years of experience in testing.

Venkat started his career as a development and maintenance engineer working in C programming language. After he got an opportunity to work in a test team as a consultant at cisco Systems, Venkat continued to build on his career in testing.

Venkat has devised test strategies for complex features and solutions, performance, reliability, interoperability, and standards based products. Venkat has considerable experience in testing internetworking devices (cisco to be specific) and network management applications that manage internetworking devices.

Venkat’s professional goals are to continue providing effective test strategy and test architecture solutions, while expanding his horizons in the various technologies associated with the products and solutions that he works with. Venkat also envisions on working as a project manager for test related initiatives.

This workshop will look at the specifics and challenges involved in testing internetworking devices, SNMP, and the network management applications that manage the internetworking devices. Special emphasis is placed on the device testing itself rather than internetworking or its routing protocols, as testing and managing the devices themselves are intricate topics. Venkat will speak from his practical experience of working with internetworking devices and the applications managing them.
