Documenting a clear set of user requirements ensures a good start for a project. It helps project managers estimate better, prevent defects and deliver products that meet customer expectations and helps companies succeed in the competitive marketplace.Identifying the right set of users for a software product, the environment they use it in, setting priorities and then a mechanism to deliver the product that meets user requirements is critical for success in today’s cutthroat market scenario. Product Developers, Designers and Architects focus more on technical aspects and tend to overlook the user perspective. This workshop will help them get this much-needed perspective thus ensuring that their products have a higher acceptance in the marketplace.

The objectives of the workshop are: Knowing the user, Identifying user environments and constraints, Eliciting user requirements, stated and unstated requirements, classifying and prioritizing requirements, tools for requirements analysis, tracking requirements through the SDLC, requirements management process and references from the ISO and CMM models.

   

 

Speaker Background
Muralidhar Koteshwar is a graduate of IIT Madras and has over 15 years of experience in the IT industry in roles spanning the complete software product lifecycle.

An opportunity to be part of India’s national initiative in Supercomputing beckoned in 1992 and he was soon involved in architecting advanced computing solutions based on the PARAM supercomputer. In 1996 he joined the TATA group and held several roles spanning Product Definition, Product Management and Corporate Communications.

For the last six years, he has been with Celstream Technologies, a renowned Product Engineering Company in various capacities driving Usability, Requirements Management, and Quality. He currently heads the Tools and Competency Development.
